Many non-profit and for-profit organizations are upgrading their MediaWiki to a Semantic MediaWiki to work with metadata and structured data. Semantic MediaWiki can be the heart of the data structure for almost any application you can think of. Because creating these structures is so flexible it’s a perfect tool for creating highly customizable solutions.

Many who also want to use Semantic are looking for useful introductions. There is now a hands-on introduction by Robis Koopmans (Wikibase Solutions) at YouTube that very clearly explains the basics of Semantic. The video is a recording of a tutorial at the Semantic MediaWiki Conference 2020. The target audience are Wikimaintainers who need an introduction to the basic concept.
